*Fluffy*

Born to a feral mama in April 2023, Fluffy’s cat mama did a fantastic job of caring for her and her 3 siblings, living a relatively care-free outside life in Red Bluff for a little over a year. February 2024 finds Fluffy learning that the feral outside life is NOT ideal for cats
after an illness living outside in the cold and wet winter, Fluffy started to show signs of having an URI. This URI has permanently affected Fluffy’s lungs – she snuffles and has moments of struggling to breathe. Not only that, her foster’s vet reports that she is almost 100% blind and upon adoption will be referred to a veterinary ophthalmologist to fully assess her ocular changes. Fluffy will need to be strictly inside only and THE only cat in a household where she has one human to care for her and keep her in kisses and safely tucked inside. Since she is a special needs girl, Fluffy cannot join us at the cafĂ© – we do not want to risk her becoming stressed due to the amount of traffic we have here in the lounge and potentially subjecting her to germs that she may not be able to ward off. Fluffy is the first cat to be part of our Purrivate Pawtners Program where certain cats who can’t come to our cafĂ© for a specific reason can be allowed to stay in their foster homes offsite until adopted. We will still showcase her and cats like her on our website and Facebook page but they won’t be physically present here. *If you are interested in a meet and greet with Miss Fluffy, please let us know so that we may arrange a private appointment with her foster, as she is located in our offsite foster space*

Loki

Some cats zoom, others boing…then there’s kittens like Loki, who have specialized in the art of the low-key rumble purr. Not the loud growl of the Mustang or the obnoxious and overly anxious youngster trying to get your attention. This 5-month-old chooses another approach: he prefers a soft purr so unassuming that humans have to touch him to be heard. Pretty clever, Loki! He wants his humans CLOSE where he can savor them and show off his shiny and sleek black fur, slick like a panther’s. Being held and petted by humans is his paws-down favorite thing, next to nibbling on treats and tossing up the occasional mouse who deserves to be rabbit-kicked. Will you become his next chosen human?

Stella..and baby Luna

Mama Stella recently had 2 kittens – 1 passed away shortly thereafter and the other, is pictured here, Luna. Stella is a gorgeous Lynx-Point Siamese “type” ( the “type” because cream/white with Lynx Point colorpoints) with the most startlingly blue eyes you’ve ever seen. Even though she is about 3-1/2 years old you’d never know it – she is extremely sweet and affectionate albeit a bit bossy, which is probably due to being a mama to her little, Luna. Luna is a bit over 3 months old and is the cutest fluffiest little bite-sized niblet. She has more of a Siamese appearance than her mom. Luna loves to cuddle, hang out and watch the goings-on in the lounge, pretty mellow for a kitten! Mama Stella and Luna would like a quiet and loving home together with no other cats and no dogs. Will your home -and heart- be the one they belong to?

Waffles & Pancakes

4-1/2 month old Waffles and her brother Pancakes were rescued living under some bushes outside of the old IHOP building in Chico. This sweet as syrup bonded pair are almost as fluffy as really good pancakes and just as appealing to the eye. They love nothing more than to sleep stacked snuggly warm on top of each other and if you slowly reach into their hidey hole and give them scratches, you’ll be rewarded with the richest rumbly purrs. While they love interacting with other cats, they adore playing with guests and each other equally – there is no sibling rivalry here! đŸ˜»đŸˆâ€âŹ›

Rosebud

Stunning Rosebud was rescued hanging around the Chico Marketplace where she was looking into the shop windows, no doubt plotting a mad dash inside so that she can use her fashion savvy to spruce up some displays.This 4-month-old purr bucket loves to “help” us when we work on our laptops and has been seen directing traffic of guests into the lounge LOL. If you need an affectionate, fashion-forward purry companion to curl up by your side as you work from home, Rosebud is your gal! She has to be in the thick of the playtime around here and relishes in a good round of wand play and mice tossing. She won’t last long so come and say hello to sweet Rosie!đŸ˜»đŸˆâ€âŹ›

Kit Kat

Affectionate and talkative Kit Kat was rescued from inside a DUMPSTER at Nancy’s Cafe in Willows clinging to a Kit Kat wrapper as a young kitten. Even though this frolicky little gray and white guy had a rough start in life, you would never know it! Kit Kat is quite the talker and relishes to run and play with his newfound lounge buddies. He tackles anything and everything, including your legs…and heart. When he’s not tackling a toy, you can find him cuddling up with staff and perched on a tree looking at one of our many windows. His foster reports that he is a giant snuggle monster at night and keeps his paws on his human at all times to make sure he has you close by. Will you find Kit Kat tackling YOUR heart?

Mindy

What do you do when you find 2 sweet orange and white dumplings inside a shed at the base of a 100+ year-old walnut tree in an orchard on Chico’s west side? You take them to their foster home ASAP and cover their sweet faces with kisses. 5-month-old Mindy and her brother Malcolm have long since forgotten their rescue story and have moved on to happier times bouncing and rough-housing with each other all day long! These two are a bonded pair who have the cutest squishy orange faces that demand, “Pick me up, human!” We say all kittens are beautiful and spunky but these two are walking, leaping and napping Purina commercials! Some people have their matching china, others bonded orange floofs. Come in and meet these sweethearts before they are gone!

Lulu

Look at this sweet and curious face! This face belongs to almost 1-year-old Lulu, who was rescued as part of an ongoing TNR operation at the Penny Ranch store on Hwy 32 in Chico. She was found to be too friendly to re-release, so Lulu girl was quickly ushered into foster care so that she could grow and thrive while awaiting space here at the cafe. At the moment Lulu is waiting for the right time to properly introduce herself to us and our guests (it can get a bit loud and busy in the lounge) but we have seen her in the shadows keeping her eye on us planning her entrance. Lulu is sweet but slightly afraid of joining the others in the meow mix so she prefers to watch from her conspicuous hidey hole in the student lounge where she can quietly observe. Will you be the one she opens up to?

Banter

Born on July 15 of this year under a camiella bush at one of our rescue partner’s foster homes, Banter (along with her 2 siblings Ollie and Ember (who was recently adopted!), had a rough start in life. Mama kitty moved the kittens after 2 days old, only to return them 2 weeks later. Unfortunately, her kittens were alone and their hiding spot was showered in Wet & Forget Mildew Remover! Immediate action was taken – the kittens were bathed, dried and returned to mom. BUT then mama didn’t come back, so being as it was a hot day, they were brought inside and their journey to their forever home began. Banter was named for his constant need to “banter” back and forth with his foster mom. He is one sweet boy! With his soulful eyes he lieks to watch the chaos unfold a bit before jumping into the action. While playing and running are his favorite things, he does love to snuggle. SPRING TOYS are his favorite – he carries them in his mouth and growls at passerbys LOL

COMING SOON…the C-H-I-C Kittens

COMING SOON: The C-H-I-C Kittens!
~~~~Chestnut and Hazel will be arriving FRIDAY DEC 13 with the others following soon thereafter~~~~
Introducing the C-H-I-C Kittens…named after Chico’s famous downtown streets because they were found in a cat carrier in downtown Chico at approximately 4 weeks old in the still-too-hot early Fall days. Here’s our cats of characters:
Chestnut: He is a lighter brown tabby with a cream belly and cream lower face. He loves to reach out with his paw and gently touch your face. He is the most affectionate of the boys and loves to wrestle with his sister Hazel.
Hazel: She is the only girl of the bunch and she loves to stand up tall and demand full body strokes including her tail. Hazel has a stunning split Tortie face and the sweetest mew. She doesn’t take any guff from her brothers! Hazel loves her catnip filled mice and enjoys rabbit kicking them!
Ivy: He is the biggest of the group and the darker brown tabby. He uses his weight to rough house with his brother Cherry. Ivy is a very polite and sweet boy – if one sibling cries out he runs over to check on them. His favorite chew toy is his brother Cherry.
Cherry: This black guy is a character – he loves to flop on his side and kiss your face and takes his paw, moves his head to the side and gently touches and pets on you. Cherry on Top loves to be held and kissed on and he can ussually be found instigating trouble with his brother Ivy. He loves toy mice! Cherry sports a tiny faded black spot on his chest…he’s the Cherry on Top of this precious quartet of kittens.
All kittens are now 4.5 months old and are spayed and neutered, vaccinated (Rabies vaccine plus 2 FVRCP boosters with a final third due in January) and microchipped. They are bonded with each other: Chestnut with Hazel and Ivy with Cherry, so they must be adopted in pairs đŸ˜»đŸ˜»đŸ˜»đŸ˜»đŸˆâ€âŹ›đŸˆâ€âŹ›đŸˆâ€âŹ›đŸˆâ€âŹ›
NEW PHOTOS COMING SOON!
Melody
Melody comes to us by way of the mean streets of Chico – a kind person was feeding a small group of cats outside of her home but then the tides changed and she reached out to our rescue partner for help with rehoming them. This petite almost 1-year-old brown tabby LOVES to eat BUT what she loves to do more than eat is TALK. She’ll sing to you and then promptly roll over for you to rub her belly. Since she has been an outside cat for a few months now, she enjoys playing games with you with sticks and strings and ADORES being pet when she feels comfortable with you. Always ready for cuddles, she will hang out by your side as long as you hang out with her! Because of her healthy appetite, it’s best to regulate her meals so she doesn’t overdo it! Melody loves other cats and becomes pals very quickly. Will you and she become fast friends, too?
Robbie
Robbie, like Melody, comes to us by way of the mean streets of Chico – a kind person was feeding a small group of cats outside of her home but then the tides changed and she reached out to our rescue partner for help with rehoming them. This robust almost 1-year-old boy is an absolute sweetheart. with a calm, loving demeanor. He will sit in your lap all day and ask for chin scratches followed by kisses, hugs and body rubs. Since living outside for a bit, he has learned to amuse himself by playing with sticks and strings, which he’ll happily play with you, too! Robbie has a cute, scratchy, lower-register meow and nicely self-regulates his mealtimes.. If you sit by him, he’ll prove to you that he is SO ready to be your best buddy. He loves other cats and becomes pals very quickly. Will you and he become fast friends, too?
Adoption Process
First you will make a reservation to meet our adoptable kitties. Adoption fees vary, according to the age of the kitten or cat.
All kitties over 4 months also have had their rabies vaccinations. All kittens have been spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, received their flea and de-wormer treatments, and basic booster shots.
Your new kitten adoption also includes a beautiful gift basket, a bag of our premium branded cat litter and a starter bag of kitten food. When you visit, let our staff know you are actively looking to adopt.
When you fall in love with one of our sweet rescues, here is our Adoption Process:
  1. Ask for an application - fill it out in its entirety and please don’t forget to write in the top which cat you are applying for!
  2. We will take a photo of the application and text it to that cat’s rescue representative.
  3. The rescue may or may not reach out to you immediately for a phone interview. Some of our rescues respond within the day and some take a little longer. Please be patient.
  4. We DO NOT have any control over the adoption approval process. All of our rescues operate independently of our business and as such we are completely removed from the adoption process. We will notify you if you have been approved when we are notified ourselves!
  5. Once we get an all paws up approval, we will be reaching out to you to setup a mutually beneficial day and time to finalize your new furry BFF’s adoption. If you get the ok over the weekend, it’s at our discretion when the cat can go home - this depends on current numbers of cats in the lounge at the moment, as well as events and other things taking place at that time. NOTE: We require our rescue partners to have a replacement cat ready  to come into the lounge once we have an approved adoption to keep cat staffing levels up, so it may be a few days before the process is complete. Please also take note that we are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays 😊
  6. When you arrive to bring your new kitty home, please expect to spend about 15 minutes or so with us finalizing your paperwork. BRING A CARRIER, proper payment (cash, Venmo, or check made out to the rescue) and be prepared to fill out an adoption contract. We will go over your cat’s adoption folder that contains its medical records and other papers, discuss food and litter requirements and take a photo of your new family for our social media posting.
  7. Go home and celebrate with kisses and belly rubs!! đŸ˜»đŸˆâ€âŹ›
